World Refugee Day is celebrated annually and is meant to call attention to the lives and struggles facing refugees. This event honors the courage, strength and determination of refugees who are forced to flee their homes under threat of persecution, conflict and violence.

Every year, people across the United States use World Refugee Day as a focus for raising awareness and funds in their own communities, to gather support for refugees and at the same time they spread understanding about the reality of being a refugee. In the past nine years JVS has resettled 3,500 refugees from 26 different countries to Kansas City.

Come out on Saturday for this diverse¬†family-friendly event to celebrate and encourage the strength of our city’s refugee population.
